About Kendriya Vidyalaya Burdwan

The scheme of Kendriya Vidyalaya was adopted by the Govt. of India in the year 1963 on the basis of recommendation of the second pay commission. At first 20 Regimental Schools were taken up as Central School (C.S.) known as Kendriya Vidyalaya to impart education to the children of transferable Central / State Govt. employees. Later on, the same facilities have been extended all over the country and at present there are nearly 900 KendriyaVidyalayas. It is an autonomous organization under Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India and the Minister of HRD, Govt. of India is its chairman.
Burdwan city had been feeling the lack of CBSE affiliated school where children of all regions specially of transferable employees could study in a bi-lingual atmosphere (English and Hindi). To fulfill this need, Kendriya Vidyalaya Burdwan was established in the year 1994 by the sincere efforts of the then M.P ShriSudhir Roy at the C.C.C Complex Alamgani, temporarily. The Vidyalaya has been shifted to its own building at Kamal Shayer (Goda) from July 2005.
Kendriya Vidyalaya Burdwan is situated near Keshabganjchati. From Burdwan Rly. Station one can reach by local Bus/ Rickshow to Keshabganjchati via Golapbag. It is a civil sector school.
